Why play in AverTales?

Have you ever spent hundreds of turns in an AI story, grown attached to its world and characters, only to watch them lose coherence and stop feeling like themselves? It is genuinely disheartening when a world you cared about begins to feel unfamiliar—and it can be enough to make you leave the story behind. AverTales is designed to resist that drift, helping your world and its characters keep growing without losing what made them matter to you.

The long-story promise

A story that still knows itself at turn 2,000.

When old scenes no longer fit in a model's immediate context, AverTales turns them into durable, inspectable memory. Automatic consolidation keeps working in the background, while review, editing, merging, and search keep you in control of what the story remembers.

No fixed card ceiling Your memory archive can keep growing with the story.
Up to 100 + 100 Lore cards and memories per turn in Max Mode, ranked separately for relevance.
01

Memory that behaves more like recall.

Every 20 completed turns, older scenes are consolidated into episodic memory. Retrieval combines meaning, exact words, importance, location cues, recency, and reinforced recall—while knowledge boundaries stop characters from knowing events they never witnessed or learned about.

  • Automatic consolidation
  • Keyword + semantic search
  • Review and merge tools
  • Clickable storyline visualizer
02

Characters remember who they became.

Reflection looks across evidence from active characters to derive durable traits, values, motivations, fears, habits, and contradictions. Relationship mapping keeps the history of how bonds change, giving the narrator evidence for an arc—not just a snapshot of who someone was at the beginning.

  • Character insights
  • Auto-reflection
  • Arc journal
  • Relationship history
03

From a quick exchange to a full chapter.

Conversation mode holds the current beat for natural back-and-forth in no more than 150 words. Choose 200–800-word scene lengths, or let Freedom mode decide naturally from 100 to 1,200 words. Separately, Faithful, Balanced, and Freedom creativity presets control how adventurous the prose becomes, and supported reasoning-capable narration models are available when you want deeper deliberation.

  • Conversation pacing
  • Flexible response length
  • Three creativity presets
  • Reasoning-capable models

Life continues off-camera

Optional Secret Info notes preserve hidden motives, NPC secrets, and off-screen threads—and can deliver a foreshadowed event when its moment arrives.

Goals survive side quests

Objectives can be found and resolved automatically, or added, edited, paused, completed, and reviewed in a durable history by you.

Time means what it says

A time-analysis pass advances the in-world day, hour, and minute so “this morning” does not quietly become “months ago.”

A party, not a solo chatbot

Characters currently in the scene have their lore pinned into the turn context, helping multiple companions remain present even when your action does not name each one.

A living story engine

One story. Four layers of continuity.

AverTales separates the parts of a long-running story so each can evolve without collapsing into an endless transcript.

Author your adventure

Your world shouldn't stay stuck in your imagination.

Do you have a world or character you cannot stop imagining—but nowhere to play them? Creating an entire setting from scratch can turn inspiration into homework. Chat with Scenario Studio, answer a short series of focused questions, and within minutes it will draft a populated, playable world with characters, lore, background, story systems, an opening, and cover direction. Start playing immediately, or fine-tune every detail until the world feels unmistakably yours.

More than prose generation

Give the story rules—and room to surprise you.

Define what characters can do, what the world must remember, and what might happen next. AverTales turns those rules into consequences.

Skills

Don't want the protagonist to succeed at everything?

Give characters real strengths and weaknesses. Skill levels and dice-informed checks make success feel earned—and failure becomes a new turn in the story, not a mistake.

Tracked items

Want the AI to track something your story can't afford to forget?

Choose any value that matters—trust, corruption, supplies, a curse, faction standing, or something entirely your own. AverTales carries it forward as the story changes.

Triggers

Want the unexpected without losing the plot?

Add events with their own odds, conditions, and effects. Each turn brings controlled randomness; the narrator only uses a trigger when the scene truly fits, creating surprises that still make sense.

Keep the version of the story you want.

Edit

Rewrite your turn or the narrator's response.

FAQ

Questions before you begin.

The short version of how AverTales works and where you remain in control.

Is AverTales a chatbot?

No. Conversation drives the story, but a session also has structured lore, memories, world state, story time, character systems, and editable turns.

How does memory work?

AverTales consolidates completed turns into AI Memory cards, then ranks useful cards by semantic meaning, keywords, importance, location, and other recall signals. You can inspect, search, edit, merge, delete, and follow them through character storylines.

How much can a story remember?

The memory archive has no fixed card-count ceiling. Each turn receives a ranked working set rather than the entire archive: 30 lore cards and 30 memories by default, with up to 100 of each per turn in Max Mode.

What happens behind each turn?

The narrator writes the scene while specialist background passes handle direction and objectives, story time, memory consolidation, relationships, and character reflection as applicable. They share structured session state so continuity does not depend on one giant prompt.

Can I edit what happened?

Yes. You can edit player turns or narrator replies, reroll a response, and remove turns that should no longer be part of the timeline.

Do I need to build a scenario first?

No. You can choose an existing public scenario and start playing, use Scenario Studio to develop an idea, or build one manually from scratch.

What are skills, tracked items, and triggers?

Skills describe character capability. Tracked items hold evolving values such as reputation or resources. Triggers are authored events that can activate when their conditions fit the current scene.

Are images required?

No. You can play entirely in text. When you want visuals, generated scene art, character references, location backdrops, and the Gallery are available.

Can my worlds stay private?

Yes. Keep a scenario private while you build and play it, or publish it when you want other players to discover it.

Where can I read the Privacy Policy?

Our Privacy Policy explains what information AverTales collects, how it is used, and the choices available to you.

Does AverTales support mature or NSFW stories?

Yes. AverTales supports adult and mature scenarios. Account settings let you control whether mature content is shown and whether mature cover images are blurred. All content must still follow the platform's rules.

What does Early Access mean?

AverTales is open for a limited Early Access period while the experience is refined with player feedback. Early testers who contribute feedback will receive additional benefits when free and paid accounts arrive.
